Appoint New Provincial Leadership
OSHKOSH, Wis., April 23, 2013 — The Congregation of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother (SSM), Third Order Regular of St. Francis of Assisi, has selected new leadership for the U.S./Caribbean Province.
The new Provincial Council includes Sister M. Helen Malolepsy, Provincial Superior; Sister Maria Vinton, Assistant Provincial Superior; Sister M. Lois Bush, Provincial Councilor; and Sister Julie Marie Peters, Provincial Councilor.
Presently Archivist for SSM Provincial Administration, Sister M. Helen Malolepsy has previously served in leadership positions for SSM, including General Superior from 1997-2008 and Provincial of the former Denville Province. She holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Marquette, a Bachelor Degree in Secondary Education from Seton Hall University and a Bachelor Degree in General Science from the College of St. Elizabeth.
Sister Maria Vinton is an art psychotherapist working with inpatients at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rhinelander, Wis., and St. Michael’s Hospital and Ministry Behavioral Health (Residential AODA and Intensive Outpatient Program), Stevens Point, Wis. She holds a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy and a Bachelor Degree in Art Education from Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, Wis.
Sister M. Lois Bush is the Senior Vice President of Mission and Culture Integration for Ministry Health Care. She is also the SSM Representative to Participating Entities for Ascension Health. Sr. Lois graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and from Saint Louis University with a Master of Science degree in Nursing. She also earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
Sister Julie Marie Peters, after receiving a degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from the University of Wisconsin – Stout, has been serving in the Archdiocese Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies. She teaches at the seminary and conducts programs throughout the Caribbean through the Franciscan Institute, an SSM ministry which facilitates the psycho-spiritual development of youth, adults and families. She is currently Formation Director for the Province.
The new council will take office on July 1, 2013, and will lead the province in implementing the vision and direction set forth by the Provincial Assembly.
